Tenerife

You will now see, that Tenerife also has a very lush and green side. It also has some black sand beaches. I think I bought ice cream out of the little carts everywhere we went. Tricia always had a good chuckle over this. The reason behind this was, that during my mission, I always wanted some of those during the long and hot days of knocking doors.....but alas, that wasn't in the mission budget.

Tenerife is famous for their Carnival. Carnival for lack of better description, a large party that locals participate in for most of the month prior to lent. They figure it's their opportunity to get away as much as they can before giving up some of their vices for a few weeks. Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the 2nd largest in the world to the one if Rio de Janiero Brazil. We took in the roughly 4.5 hour parade ranging from local entries, island entries, as well as entries from all over the world.

Justin, Is Carnival in Tenerife is like the one in Rio - that is - showing a little TOO much skin? I know the missionaries in Rio had to be inside by 6:00 or so during carnival in order to avoid all the topless women everywhere!
